2 hours and 30 minutes

Easy

Ski through the unbroken snow in forest like a local! The most genuine activity in Lapland, rewarding also for the absolute beginner. A guide will be delighted to instruct you the safe and fun wilderness skiing technique.

Not a snowshoe nor a traditional long back country ski – but a cross-breed with best of the both worlds. A wide, short, agile ski makes it easy to travel across thick snowfields. No previous skiing experience required for enjoying gliding across the puffy snowfields. Exploring Arctic forest was never so easy and effortless!

Classic Wilderness Skiing Tour is available both in Pyhä (Pyhätunturi) and Luosto (Luostotunturi), located just a mere 20 km from each other in Lapland. They both offer an easy access to the Pyhä-Luosto National Park’s gorgeous taiga forests. You will be asked during the booking process whether you want to start the Classic Wilderness Skiing Tour either from Pyhä or Luosto.

In Pyhä, we offer pick-up service from the following locations:

  • Kurula's Resort
  • Northern Lights Village Pyhä (at the front of the restaurant)
  • Sunday Morning Resort
  • Lucky Ranch - Saloon (at the front of the restaurant)

Note: Pick-up from Pyhä locations starts 15 minutes before departure. If there are many customers at different pickup points, it is important to arrive on time and wait patiently for your own ride.

      Please note

The Classic Wilderness Skiing Tour lasts 2,5 hours. Wilderness skiing does not require earlier experience in skiing.

From Rovaniemi , the closest airport and Santa Claus’ headquarters, it takes approximately two hours by car or by Skibus to reach us in Pyhä (Hotel Pyhätunturi) or in Luosto (Lapland Hotel Luostotunturi).

Altai ski is a short, easy-to-use forest ski that combines the best features of a snowshoe. With a partial climbing skin integrated into the base, the ski climbs with ease. The skin also makes the ski slower and easier to control than traditional skis. The ski’s short, wide design makes it incredibly maneuverable, ideal for thick woods and variable terrain, a truly all-purpose backcountry tool.

Kindly note that 10% of the price of your tour is non-refundable. The 10% will be used to cover fees connected to your booking such as credit card transactions and other administrative charges. Refunds will only be issued to the card used to purchase the tour.

        What to bring

Suitable personal clothing for winter weather including warm boots, hat and gloves or mittens. Please consider bringing some snacks like nuts or chocolate (caution: keep chocolate in a pocket inside of your jacket, otherwise it will freeze). Complimentary hot berry beverages included.
